Dressage Calling ("the app") is provided by Christian Winter, trading as Dressage Calling, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and how it's handled.
The short version
Almost everything the app does happens entirely on your device. Your dressage tests, settings, and ride history are stored locally on your phone and are never uploaded to us. We don't run analytics or advertising trackers. The only data that leaves your device is what's needed to manage a premium subscription, handled by Google Play and our subscription provider, RevenueCat.
What we collect and why
Tests, settings and ride history — stored locally only. Test sheets you build, your voice/calling preferences, and your practice/ride history are saved on your device using Android's local storage. We do not have a server that receives or stores this information, and we cannot see it.
Sensor data (compass/magnetometer) — processed locally, never transmitted. Live calling reads your phone's compass to detect movement completion and trigger the next voice cue. This happens entirely on-device, in real time, and the readings are never sent anywhere or stored beyond the current ride.
Microphone (Voice arming mode only) — processed locally, never transmitted. If you choose the "Voice" start method, the app listens for a small set of trigger words ("go", "cancel") using on-device speech recognition (Vosk). No audio is recorded, saved, or sent off the device — the recognizer only reacts to the trigger words in real time. This permission is optional and only requested if you choose that start method.
Subscription / purchase data — via Google Play and RevenueCat. If you subscribe to premium features, the purchase is handled by Google Play Billing. We use RevenueCat to check your subscription status and keep premium features unlocked across reinstalls. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-generated user ID and purchase/entitlement data (not your name, email, or payment details) from Google Play in order to do this. See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Google Play's terms for how they handle this data.
Support emails. If you email us at contact@dressagecalling.com, we'll have whatever you send us (your email address and message content) so we can reply. We use this only to respond to you.
What we don't do
- No analytics or usage-tracking SDKs
- No advertising or ad-tracking
- No selling or sharing of your data with third parties for marketing
- No cloud account or sign-in required to use the app
- No storage of official governing-body test-sheet content — the app only ever stores the movement sequence you (or a future import feature) construct, never copyrighted test text
Your data, your device
Because tests, settings and history live in local app storage, uninstalling the app removes them. If you'd like help understanding or removing any data associated with your subscription (the RevenueCat side), contact us at the email above.
Children
The app is not directed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
